Heart To Heart...

The start of the 2007/2008 Hoops4Him season is just around the corner.  It is always a miracle to watch all the details come together.  Think about it.  Many people have been working hard behind the scenes to put together schedules, to secure gyms for us to play in, to secure referees to officiate our games, to secure scorekeepers to keep the books and run the clock, and so much more.  Then there's you—the players and coaches.  You've been working hard too...reaching out to your friends and inviting them to play, practicing, filling out rosters and parental consent forms, getting jerseys, and a lot of other stuff.

So as we get ready to kick off another year of Hoops4Him, I want to thank each and every one of you for all that you do to make Hoops4Him happen.  Some people may wonder why we do it.  Why do we spend the time and energy to make Hoops4Him a reality?  I hope that your answer is simply this: Christ's love compels us!  The heart of Hoops4Him is not basketball.  The heartbeat and passion of Hoops4Him is Jesus Christ!  Our vision has always been a citywide vision for the Kingdom of God to be more fully established in the hearts and lives of our young people and every person in our city!  Thank you again for hearing the voice of God and answering His call.

Weather Info...

It won't be long before the temperatures start to drop and we start to experience the chance of winter weather.  Sooooo...I thought I would take this opportunity to remind everyone of our policies and procedures in the event of inclement weather.  In the event of a weather forecast that calls for potentially inclement weather on game day, the League Director will pay close attention to weather developments through the various local television stations and also by calling the various Divisions Supervisors regarding conditions near their gym locations. 

A decision concerning whether or not to play will be made no later than 7:00am on game day.  If the decision is made to cancel play it will be communicated two ways: (1) a Hoops News item will be posted immediately on the Hoops4Him website and (2) WXII News Channel 12 will be contacted and the information should be posted on their list of closings/delays.  If you do not see any announcement on the Hoops4Him website or on WXII News Channel 12 by 7:15am, then you should assume that games will be played.
