2017-2018 Season will begin on November 11
by posted 10/17/2017

The Hoops4Him Basketball League is soon approaching and the excitement is in the air!

We will have four divisions this season as in seasons past.  Here are the division breakdowns and the team registration fee for each division:

  • Junior Boys (4th-6th grade boys, girls) - $525
  • Girls (7th-12th grade) - $550
  • Intermediate Boys (7th-9th grade) - $550
  • High School Boys (10th-12th grade) - $700

With the recent departure of our league director, our leadership team has been working feverishly to make sure the season starts smoothly.  In order to help you better prepare, we wanted to give you provide you with some very important dates and other information.

  • October 17 - Team Registration Open
  • October 26 - Coaches' Meeting 1 (6:30 PM, College Park Baptist)
  • October 31 - Team Registration Closed
  • November 1 – Coach/Player Registration Opens
  • November 3 - Schedule Release
  • November 6 - Coaches' Meeting 2 (6:30 PM, College Park Baptist)
  • November 11 - Opening Day
  • December 1 – Coach/Player Registration Closed
  • February 10 – Championship Saturday

In order to ensure the effectiveness of our league, it is essential every coach participate in one of the coaches' meetings. Attendance at the coaches' meeting is mandatory in order to participate in Hoops4Him as a coach.  Any coach who does not participate will not be allowed to coach their team.  We have provided two options in order to accommodate everyone’s unique needs and circumstances.  The coaches’ meeting will be for the purpose of explaining rules and expectations for coaches and players, clarifying registration issues, hearing from our officials, and discussing other issues for this and future seasons of H4H.

As we did last season, the league starts play in November so that all games can be completed in time for spring sports.  Our decision to begin the season November 11 is our effort to remedy this problem. We understand that this decision did impact fall sports and other issues.  However, we trust the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.

Our leadership team needs significant help in being able to make sure the season works smoothly.  We are in need of volunteers to help coordinate the High School boy’s division.  Also, we are looking for scorekeepers.  Finally, we need additional help on the leadership team.  If you are available and interested, please let us know.

We understand the quick start of the season is an aggressive timetable, but we feel it is manageable given all of the circumstances.  Please do not hesitate to ask questions. We are here to help.  We look forward to seeing you soon as we expect another incredible H4H season!

Thanks!
Your Hoops4Him Leadership Team

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: 2017/2018 Season
by posted 10/16/2017

Dear Hoops4Him Family,

After serving two years as League Director for Hoops4Him, Jamie Jessup is stepping down due to increased responsibilities related to a recent job promotion that require “extreme flexibility and weekend availability” that will make it impossible for him to perform his duties as League Director. Please join with me in thanking Jamie for his service and blessing him as he pursues this new opportunity.

Jamie’s departure creates an immediate need for a League Director which the Board of Directors will be looking to fill as soon as possible. If you know of anyone with a passion for Jesus, a heart for young people, and a love for the game of basketball please contact me at   or 336.575.1727.

With the 2017/2018 season just a few weeks away, we recognize that we are behind in our usual preparations and communications. The Leadership Team will be sending out an email in the next day or so with information on the upcoming  mandatory Coaches Meeting, team registration and fees, and much more. Please be patient as they work to get everything in place without this key position. If you are willing and able to serve on the Leadership Team, please contact me about that as well.

Finally, and most importantly, I want to remind us that despite changes in leadership and the challenges of running an all-volunteer organization, the passion of Hoops4Him has always been and will always be Jesus. It’s just that simple…and just that powerful. So as we look ahead, I close with a blog post that I wrote way back in 2009. I hope it encourages you and perhaps stirs some of you to engage at an even deeper level with this wonderful organization we call Hoops4Him!

For the glory of God in all things…even basketball,

Jason B. Clubb
Board Member / Treasurer
